Most returns on wall shelves and small storage come down to one thing — the piece was ordered without checking the space or the wall it was going on. Two minutes with a measuring tape saves the whole problem.

Measure the space, not the product

• Wall shelves: check the width of the wall run, and leave at least 15 cm of clear wall either side so the shelf doesn't look wedged in.
• Above a desk or console: allow 40 to 45 cm of vertical clearance so you can actually reach in and place things.
• Bedside cabinets: match the height to your mattress top, give or take 5 cm. Too low and it becomes useless for a lamp or a glass of water.
• Router and set-top stands: the listed overall dimensions are the outside of the product. Usable internal space is smaller. Measure your device including plugs and antennas.

Check your wall before you order

These are wall-mounted and free-standing pieces, not adhesive décor. Solid brick and concrete walls take standard anchors without trouble. Hollow drywall or partition board needs the right cavity fixing. If you're unsure what your wall is, tap it — a hollow sound means you need cavity anchors.

What the material will and won't take

Everything in this range is 8 mm PVC foam board. That is what keeps it light, moisture-resistant and easy to wall-fix, and it is why the white finish matches across every piece. It is a display-weight material rather than a structural one.

Photo frames, small ornaments, lightweight faux plants, toiletries, remotes and routers are all fine. Full rows of hardbacks, tool boxes and heavy dinnerware are not — and that applies to the floor-standing bookcases and stands too, because the limit comes from the board itself, not from whether the piece stands on the floor or hangs on a wall. If you need shelving that carries real weight, this is not the right range and we would rather tell you before you order.

About the finish

Everything in this range is white, which is deliberate — it disappears against light walls and lets whatever you display do the talking. It also matches across pieces, so a wall shelf, a bedside cabinet and a desk organiser bought at different times still read as a set.
