Before You Order Room Number Plates
Room numbers are simple to order, but two things go wrong often enough to flag up front.
Decide the numbering scheme before the first plate. Block or wing letters, floor prefixes, suite names and icons are all fine — but adding a prefix later usually means redoing the whole set. Send the complete list as text and we lay every plate out to the same grid, so a two-digit number and a four-character one still look like a matched set down a corridor.
Do not drill fire-rated doors. Corridor doors in hotels, hostels and larger apartment buildings are often fire-rated, and screws through one compromise its certification. Use 3M tape instead — it holds well on the smooth painted, laminated and metal surfaces these doors typically have, and leaves nothing to repair if a room is renumbered later.

Room and Door Number Plate FAQs
Should the number go on the door or the wall beside it?
For apartments, offices and homes, the door itself is fine and is the obvious place people look. For hotels, hostels, hospitals and PG accommodation, fit the plate on the wall beside the door on the latch side, at roughly eye level. It stays visible when the door is propped open, reads more clearly to someone walking a corridor, and keeps the plate off a surface that gets slammed repeatedly.
Can I screw a number plate into a hotel or corridor door?
No. Corridor doors in hotels, hostels and larger apartment buildings are often fire-rated, and drilling screws through one compromises its certification. Use 3M tape on these, which holds well on the smooth painted, laminated and metal surfaces these doors typically have. If you are not sure whether a door is fire-rated, check for a label on the top or hinge edge and default to tape until you know.
What size should a room number plate be?
Around 4×6 to 5×10 inches suits almost every door and corridor application, since room numbers are read from a couple of feet away. Go larger if the plate also carries a room or suite name, or if it is read down a long corridor. The important thing is consistency — mixing sizes across a building reads as untidy even to guests who could not say why.
Can I add a block letter, floor prefix or room name?

What is the minimum order for a hotel or PG?
There is no minimum — we will make a single plate. For larger sets, send the complete range in one message, for example 101 to 130 plus reception, office and washrooms. You get one quote, one design approval and one delivery, which works out better than ordering in pieces.
Do I have to approve every plate in a bulk order?
We mock up one representative plate showing the layout, font, finish and size. Once you approve it, every plate in the batch follows that exact specification. You do not need to approve fifty individual designs.
Can I order matching plates later if I add rooms?
Yes. We keep your approved layout, font, finish and size on file, so a top-up order months later matches the original batch instead of looking visibly newer. It is worth ordering a few spares with the original set too, since plates get damaged during handover and renovation and a spare costs far less than a one-off replacement later.
How are the plates fixed, and is the fixing included?
Tell us the surface — painted wood, laminate, metal, glass, plaster or tile — and we send the correct fixing with the order. Smooth surfaces take 3M tape. Textured or rough plaster, semi-open corridors and wall-mounted plates that should stand slightly proud take stud mounting instead. Several of our apartment designs are built for two centre studs.
