Looking for a Kannada name plate design for your home? Start with a bold, readable Kannada house name, then choose a material that suits the entrance. Mirror-gold acrylic on black gives a premium look, white-and-gold suits apartment doors, and walnut-finish ACP works beautifully for villas, farmhouses and covered outdoor entrances.
Quick design checklist
- Keep the Kannada name as the largest line.
- Use one supporting element: Ganapati, Lakshmi, peacock, lotus or a simple floral border.
- Add the house number or English family name in a smaller size.
- Choose thicker letter strokes for easy reading and clean laser cutting.
- Confirm every Kannada character in the digital proof before production.
12 Kannada name plate design ideas for modern homes
1. Black acrylic with mirror-gold Kannada letters
This is one of the clearest and most premium combinations. A dark base creates strong contrast while raised mirror-gold Kannada letters catch natural light. It suits apartment doors, villas and modern entrances.

2. White-and-gold Kannada door name plate
A white acrylic base feels brighter and works well on walnut, teak and dark laminate doors. Use a small Ganapati symbol and keep the Kannada wording centered so the design remains clean.

3. Walnut ACP farmhouse hanging name board
For a farmhouse, homestay or traditional porch, a hanging walnut-finish board feels warm and welcoming. Raised white Kannada letters improve readability, while the chain mounting gives the board a relaxed heritage character.

4. Floral Kannada name plate for an elegant entrance
A restrained floral corner can soften a geometric plate without reducing readability. Choose one or two laser-cut floral accents rather than a heavy all-round pattern.

5. Compact Kannada name board with door number
Small apartment doors need a disciplined layout. Use the Kannada name as the main line, place the door number below it, and keep decorative elements near the corners. A 6 × 12 inch plate can work when the wording is short.

6. Bilingual Kannada and English family name plate
Make the Kannada house name the largest line and keep the English family name smaller underneath. This helps delivery staff and visitors without weakening the regional identity of the design.
7. Peacock and floral walnut name plate
A peacock motif pairs naturally with Kannada lettering and walnut tones. It suits wider boards where the decorative work can sit on either side without squeezing the name.

8. Raghavendra Swamy Kannada house name plate
For names such as ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರು ಕೃಪಾ or ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ನಿಲಯ, use a simplified Raghavendra Swamy emblem with bold Kannada letters. A clean silhouette produces better laser-cut detail than a crowded portrait and stays readable from a distance.

9. Minimal Kannada-only name plate
One meaningful Kannada word with a small number can look more premium than a crowded layout. This style works especially well with names such as ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ, ಸಿರಿ, ಅನುಗ್ರಹ and ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ.
10. Traditional arch or temple-inspired border
A temple-inspired Kannada name board can use a simple arch, lamp, lotus, Shankha-Chakra or geometric border. Keep the icon secondary and the Kannada name central. Thick, connected shapes are cleaner to manufacture and more durable than very thin ornamental lines.
11. Kannada name plate with warm LED backlight
For a villa entrance or covered exterior wall, warm white halo lighting can improve night visibility. Keep the front lettering bold and leave enough space behind the plate for the concealed LED and wiring. Confirm the power point and weather protection before production.
12. Modern vertical family name plate
A tall plate can list family members below a short Kannada house name. Use consistent spacing, one font family and a small botanical accent at the top or bottom. This works well beside a wide entrance door where horizontal space is limited.
Best names for a house in Kannada
The best house name is short, meaningful and easy to pronounce. Here are popular options that also work well in laser-cut Kannada lettering:
| Kannada name | Meaning / feeling |
|---|---|
| ಶ್ರೀನಿಲಯ | Auspicious abode |
| ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ | Good fortune |
| ಅನುಗ್ರಹ | Blessing or grace |
| ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ | Peace and calm |
| ಸಿರಿ | Prosperity |
| ಆನಂದ ನಿಲಯ | Abode of joy |
| ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರು ಕೃಪಾ | Grace of the Guru |
| ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ನಿಲಯ | Devotional Raghavendra house name |
Which material is best for a Kannada house name plate?
| Material | Best suited for | Look |
|---|---|---|
| Layered acrylic | Apartment doors, villas and covered entrances | Sharp, modern and premium |
| Walnut-finish ACP | Villas, farmhouses and semi-outdoor entrances | Warm wood appearance with practical backing |
| Mirror-gold acrylic | Raised letters, symbols and decorative layers | Rich reflective gold finish |
| Brushed sheet | Indoor and covered locations | Subtle metallic finish with engraving |
Recommended Kannada name plate sizes
- 6 × 12 inch: Short Kannada name and door number.
- 7 × 16 or 8 × 16 inch: Kannada name with symbol or subtitle.
- 10 × 18 or 12 × 20 inch: Bilingual family plate or richer devotional design.
- 15 × 24 inch and above: Villa entrance, multiple family names or backlit design.
Measure the available wall or door area before ordering. The best size depends on the number of Kannada characters, viewing distance, symbol and mounting space—not only the door width.
How to choose a readable Kannada font
- Prefer medium or bold strokes over very thin calligraphy.
- Check every vowel sign, conjunct, punctuation mark and space.
- Use thicker strokes for small plates and reflective letters.
- Avoid combining more than two font styles.
- Ask a Kannada reader in the family to approve the final proof.

How to install a Kannada name plate
Two mounting methods are used, and the right one depends on the surface and the size of the plate.
Stud-and-standoff mounting
This is the method for exterior walls, gates, compound walls and any plate wider than about 10 inches. The drilling template and stainless-steel hardware are supplied with the plate.
- Hold the supplied drilling template flat against the wall at the height you want and check it is level. Roughly eye level, about 5 feet from the ground, reads best at an entrance.
- Mark the stud positions through the template.
- Drill at each marked point and insert the wall plugs.
- Fix the base of each stainless-steel standoff into the wall.
- Seat the plate over the standoffs and hand-tighten the cap on each one. Do not overtighten — acrylic can stress-crack around the hole.
The standoffs hold the plate a few millimetres clear of the wall, so rainwater drains behind it instead of sitting against the surface. This is why stud mounting lasts far longer outdoors than adhesive.
3M tape mounting
Suitable for smooth interior doors and smaller plates only.
- Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Dust, oil or loose paint is the most common cause of a plate falling off later.
- Dry-fit the plate first and mark the top two corners with masking tape.
- Peel the liner and position the plate carefully. The adhesive grips immediately and will not allow repositioning.
- Press firmly across the entire plate for about 30 seconds.
- Leave it undisturbed for 24 hours before cleaning or handling.
Do not use tape on rough, damp, powdery, heavily textured or freshly painted walls, or on any plate fitted outdoors.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order any Kannada house name?
Yes. Send the exact Kannada spelling as editable text. Bright N Wall shares a digital design proof for spelling, layout and size approval before production.
Can Kannada and English be used on the same name plate?
Yes. Keep Kannada as the primary line and use English for the family name, transliteration or house number. A wider size usually gives both scripts enough breathing space.
Can you make a temple name board design in Kannada?
Yes. A temple or devotional Kannada board can include a simplified Ganapati, Lakshmi, Raghavendra Swamy, Om, lamp, lotus or Shankha-Chakra symbol. The artwork is adjusted to suit the selected size and cutting material.
Is a Kannada acrylic name plate suitable outdoors?
Acrylic and ACP designs can be used at exterior entrances when the mounting, adhesives and electrical parts are selected for that location. For the longest life, place mirror and layered finishes under a porch or overhang when possible.
What details are needed for a custom design?
Send the exact Kannada wording, English subtitle if any, door number, preferred symbol, approximate size and a clear entrance photo. These details help create a balanced proof.
How is a Kannada name plate installed?
Larger plates and all exterior plates use stainless-steel stud-and-standoff mounting. A drilling template and the mounting hardware are supplied, so you mark through the template, drill, fix the standoff bases and seat the plate over them. Smaller indoor plates can use pre-applied 3M tape on a clean, smooth, dry surface.
Is mounting hardware included?
Yes. Stud-mounted plates ship with the drilling template, wall plugs and stainless-steel standoffs. Tape-mounted plates ship with the adhesive already applied.
Can a name plate be fixed on a rough compound wall?
Yes, but only with stud mounting. Adhesive tape does not hold on rough, textured, powdery or damp masonry. Send a photo of the wall and we will confirm the fixing method before production.
How long does a custom Kannada name plate take?
Production starts once you approve the digital proof. Delivery is typically 5 to 8 days after approval, with free shipping across India.
What thickness of acrylic is used?
The standard build is a 3 mm cast acrylic base with 2 mm mirror-gold or mirror-silver acrylic raised lettering. Brushed gold and brushed silver designs use a 1.5 mm brushed face over a 3 mm black acrylic base.
