Choosing the Right Sign Board for the Job

Office signage fails in one of two ways: the wrong material for where it's fitted, or the wrong size for how far away it's read from. Both are easy to get right up front.

Indoor or outdoor?

  • Acrylic — the standard for indoor signage. Cabin doors, meeting rooms, reception, restrooms and room numbers. Layered acrylic with raised letters gives a polished, professional finish and holds up indefinitely indoors.
  • ACP and HPL — for anything exposed to rain or direct sun. Building name boards, shopfronts, gate signage and outdoor directional boards. Acrylic will discolour and become brittle outdoors over time; ACP will not.

If you're unsure, send a photo of where the board is going and we'll tell you which is appropriate rather than selling you the more expensive one by default.

Sizing by reading distance

Read fromLetter heightTypical board
1–2 ft (cabin door)~1 inch4 × 10 in or 6 × 12 in
5–10 ft (corridor, reception)2–3 inches8 × 24 in or larger
20–30 ft (across a lobby)4–6 inchesCustom, quoted on size
50 ft+ (outdoor, from the road)8 inches or moreCustom ACP, quoted on size

A rough rule: one inch of letter height for every 10 feet of viewing distance. Undersized outdoor boards are the single most common regret.

Styles available

Raised letters cast a shadow and look most premium — the usual choice for reception and director cabins. Engraved is durable and understated, good for room numbers and high-traffic doors. Printed is the most economical and suits full-colour logos and safety or informational signage.

Fitting

Most boards ship with strong 3M tape for screw-free installation on clean, smooth surfaces — glass, laminate, painted doors and finished walls. For textured walls, outdoor boards and larger signs we supply stud or screw mounting instead. Tell us the surface when you order.

Doing a whole office?

If you're signing a full floor or fit-out, send the room list in one message. Ordering together means one consistent style, one delivery and a better rate than piecing it out.

Why Order Signage From Us

  • Right material, honestly advisedWe'll tell you when acrylic won't survive where you're fitting it, rather than taking the order and letting it fail in a year.
  • Proof before productionEvery spelling, designation and logo placement is shown in a digital mockup you approve first. Check names carefully — this is the version we cut.
  • Consistent across a whole officeOrder the full room list together and every board matches in style, material and letter treatment. Re-orders months later match too, since we keep your spec on file.
  • Indoor and outdoor coveredAcrylic for interiors, ACP and HPL for exposed positions — all cut in the same unit, so a mixed order still arrives as one consistent set.
  • Logo and brand coloursSend a vector file or a clean high-resolution PNG. We'll flag anything too fine to cut cleanly and show you the adjusted version.
  • Screw-free fittingMost boards ship with 3M tape and go up in minutes on a clean surface. Stud and screw mounting supplied where the surface needs it.

Office Sign Board FAQs

Acrylic or ACP — which do I need?
Acrylic for anything indoors: cabin doors, meeting rooms, reception, restrooms and room numbers. ACP or HPL for anything exposed to rain or direct sun, such as building name boards, shopfronts and gate signage. Acrylic becomes brittle and discolours outdoors; ACP does not.
What size board do I need?
Work from reading distance: roughly one inch of letter height for every 10 feet of viewing distance. A cabin door sign read from 1 to 2 ft works at 4 × 10 in or 6 × 12 in. A reception board read across a lobby needs 4 to 6 inch letters and a correspondingly larger board.
Can you put our company logo on it?
Yes. Send a vector file if you have one, or a clean high-resolution PNG. Very fine logo detail sometimes has to be thickened so thin sections survive cutting and stay legible — if that applies, you'll see the adjusted version in the proof rather than finding out afterwards.
How is it fixed to the door or wall?
Most boards come with strong 3M tape, which works on clean, smooth, dry surfaces such as glass, laminate, painted doors and finished walls. For textured walls, outdoor boards and larger signs we supply stud or screw mounting. Tell us the surface when ordering.
What's the minimum order?
There isn't one for standard boards — we'll make a single cabin sign. For a full office fit-out, ordering the whole room list together gets you a better rate and guarantees every board matches.
Can I order more later that match?
Yes. We keep your approved artwork, material and letter spec on file, so a top-up order months later matches the original batch rather than being visibly different.
What if a name or designation is misspelled?
If the error is ours against the approved proof, we remake the board at our cost. If the wrong spelling was in the proof you approved, we remake it at material cost. That's exactly why the proof stage exists — check every name letter by letter.
How long does it take?
Standard boards typically ship in 3 to 5 working days. Larger custom and outdoor signage takes around 7 to 10 working days from design approval, plus transit. Tell us your date if you have an office opening to work back from.
Do you do bilingual or Kannada signage?
Yes — Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and other Indian languages, alone or bilingually on the same board. Kannada is proofread in-house. For other scripts, send the wording exactly as you want it typed and check it letter by letter on the proof.
