Roof borders are quoted per running foot. Measure along the roof edge, or just send a photo of the house — we'll estimate the length, confirm the design and come back with a firm figure, usually the same working day.

How to Measure Your Roof Edge and What It Costs

Roof borders are the decorative strip that runs along the eaves and roof edge of a house. Unlike our gable and panel work, they are priced by running foot — the total length of edge you want covered — not by square foot.

Measuring the running length

  1. Walk the perimeter of the roof and measure each straight edge you want bordered, in feet.
  2. Add them together. A typical single-storey house with borders on all four sides runs somewhere between 80 and 160 running feet.
  3. If you are only doing the front elevation, measure just that face.
  4. Add about 5% spare for cutting and joins at the corners.

You do not need to climb up. Measure the length of the wall directly below the roof edge — for a standard eave overhang it is close enough for quoting, and we confirm exact figures before cutting.

Choosing a thickness

Roof borders are available in 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm and 18 mm. Because they sit on an exposed edge and are seen from a distance, 10 mm is the usual choice — enough depth to read clearly from the road without adding unnecessary weight. Go to 12 mm or 18 mm for a deeper shadow line on larger or double-storey homes.

Boards come in sections

Borders are cut as sections and joined on site along the run, so there is no limit on total length. The pattern repeat is aligned across the joins so the finished edge reads as one continuous border. Your mason or carpenter can fit them with screws and adhesive.

Why SS ARTS Roof Borders

  • Won't rot or warpPVC foam board shrugs off monsoon, coastal salt air and termites — the three things that destroy wooden roof borders within a few seasons.
  • No painting, no maintenanceThe white finish is through the material, not a coating. Nothing to repaint every couple of years.
  • Light on the structureA fraction of the weight of wood or cement borders, so fixing is simple and puts no load on the eave.
  • Cut to your exact runSections are cut and pattern-matched to your measured length rather than sold in fixed lots you have to trim down.
  • Design preview firstYou see the pattern rendered at your dimensions and approve it before we cut anything.
  • Row houses and projectsContractors regularly order for several houses at once at a project rate. Send the drawing or the total footage.

PVC Roof Border FAQs

How is a PVC roof border priced?
By running foot — the total length of roof edge you want covered — with the rate depending on the thickness and pattern you pick. Send us your total footage on WhatsApp and we will quote it. Shipping is charged separately.
How many running feet do I need?
Measure each straight roof edge you want bordered and add them up. A typical single-storey house bordered on all four sides comes to roughly 80 to 160 running feet. Front elevation only is usually 30 to 50 feet. Add about 5% for corner cuts and joins.
Do I need to get on the roof to measure?
No. Measure the wall length directly below the roof edge — for a standard overhang that is close enough to quote from, and we confirm exact figures before anything is cut.
What thickness works best for roof borders?
10 mm is the common choice: enough depth to read clearly from the road without extra weight on the eave. 12 mm and 18 mm give a deeper shadow line and suit larger or double-storey homes. 8 mm suits smaller houses and sheltered runs.
How are long runs joined?
Borders are cut in sections and joined on site along the run. We align the pattern repeat across the joins so the finished edge reads as one continuous border rather than a series of separate pieces.
Will it need repainting?
No. The white is through the material rather than a surface coating, so there is nothing to flake or repaint. This is the main reason customers switch from wooden borders.
Can you match a design I've seen on another house?
Usually yes. Send a photo on WhatsApp — we redraw the pattern as a cutting file and show you the preview before production. There is no extra charge for a custom pattern.
Do you supply for multiple houses or a whole layout?
Yes. Builders and contractors order by the row. Send the total running feet across all units and we will quote it as one project.
