Where to place the name plate
- Fix it on the main entrance wall, typically on the left side as you face the door from outside.
- Mount it at roughly eye level so the name is easy to read, and keep it well-lit — a small light above the plate is considered auspicious.
- Make sure it is clearly visible — never hidden behind plants, shoe racks or in deep shadow.
- North and East facing entrances are considered especially favourable for a bright, welcoming name plate.
Best material as per entrance direction
Material is often matched to the direction your main door faces. A common Vastu guideline:

- Rectangle and square shapes are considered stable and grounding; softly rounded corners are thought to ease the flow of energy.
- Keep it proportionate — large enough to read comfortably from the gate.
- Write the full family name clearly; many practitioners prefer this over heavy abbreviations.
